The Festival takes place in Lubbock, Texas. Home of Buddy Holly, Texas Tech University, and beautiful West Texas Sunsets. The city of Lubbock is a hub for a verity of entertainment for any budget. Those of us at the Viva Aztlan Festival take pride in showcasing the beauty and grandiose of the Mexican Culture to the Lubbock area since 1993. We have become known through out the community for bringing professional Folklorico and Mariachi instructors to teach all ages wishing to learn a traditional fundamentals. Groups from New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado, and through out Texas participate in this annual event. Today, we continue to serve as a beacon of culture to the the Lubbock and surrounding communities.

The Viva Aztlan Festival takes pride in making sure we can provide the best experience for everyone. Unlike most festivals of this caliber, we are unique in offering low cost admission and fees. This two day event is packed full of things for anyone wanting to find out what we are all about.
Day 1: Is full of various Folklorico and Mararichi groups of all ages participating in workshops. Instructors professionals and certified in teaching Folklorico and Mariachi. This year we have partnered with Rooster's Food Truck to create an all new event that combines the up and coming Lubbock Food Truck culture with the Celebration of Mariachi and Folklorico that we are known for. We will have more information on this new partnership on our Facebook page.
Day 2: Will feature Folklorico Competitions- This year we will introduce Solos & Duets along with our regular Group competitions. We are very excited to add these new elements to our competitions. We will end the evening with an amazing performance from the 2016 Best of Festival Winners - Austin High Ballet Folklorico and an Award winning Mariachi Azteca de America from San Antonio.

Unlike most Folklorico Competitions our judges criteria and format are geared towards Team building and Fundamentals. Broken in to Two classes Adults (99+ - 15 yrs old) & Children (14 - 3 yrs old),
This year we will be offering Duet and Solo Competitions for both Adult and Children in conjunction with our normal Group (4+ members).
Judges will rate each Group, Duet and Solos will award trophies to Best Choreography, Best Traditiona, Best Costume, Best Technique, Best Overall for both Adults and Children's.
The Board members of the Viva Aztlan Festival strive to provide a team oriented atmosphere and work diligently to provide a fair environment for every group and individual that competes.
Evening Showcases are a unique attraction for all ages.
This year we have partnered with Rooster's Food Truck Yard to bring you an exciting and new endeavor that aims to showcase the Local Food Truck Culture all while highlighting what is at the heart of the festival Education and Showcasing the Mexican Culture through Music and Dance. This exciting new event will be on Friday Evening.
On Saturday, we will continue with the Showcasing of our Culture through Music ans Dance with the 2016 winners of Best of Festival - Austin High Ballet Folklorico - and ending with the amazing talents of Mariachi Azteca from San Antonio!!!
At the very core of the Viva Aztlan Festival we bring each and every group an opportunity to learn from the worlds best Folklorico Instructors.
